Fixed cupping leaves cups in selected positions, while moving cupping slides a cup over lubricated skin. Suction gently lifts the skin rather than pressing down on it. The back and other suitable soft-tissue areas can be treated according to your assessment.
A pulling sensation and temporary circular discoloration are common. Suction strength and duration are adjusted for comfort. Skin condition, bleeding risk and medicines are reviewed before treatment; cups are not placed over damaged skin.

SEE THE SERVICE
A cup creates a pressure difference at the skin’s surface, gently drawing skin and superficial tissues into the cup. The amount of suction, placement and duration influence the sensation and the skin response.
Stationary cups remain in selected positions. In moving cupping, a cup glides across lubricated skin to work over a broader area. These approaches create different sensations and can be selected according to the area and the care plan.
Cupping is used in several traditional healing systems. In Chinese medicine, treatment is commonly organized around concepts of Qi, blood and meridian pathways. These ideas guide the traditional selection of areas for care.
Modern clinical studies have examined cupping for some pain concerns. The research varies in quality and treatment method; an individual session is planned around your history and goals.
Your practitioner reviews your concerns, skin and relevant medical history before positioning the cups. Suction should be tolerable, with feedback used to adjust the session. Cupping can be a standalone appointment or part of a plan that also includes acupuncture.
Temporary circular marks can follow treatment. Their color or intensity is not a measure of toxins being removed or a target to achieve.

Fragile or damaged skin, bleeding problems and medicines affecting bleeding are important considerations. Keep treated skin clean and follow the aftercare instructions. Burns, infection, scarring or persistent discoloration are possible complications.
Cupping research reports possible short-term relief for some chronic neck or low-back pain. Discuss whether the studied approaches relate to your concerns and the method your practitioner proposes.
2018 · Systematic review
The pooled trials found reduced neck pain compared with no treatment or active controls, or when cupping was added to care. The authors noted low-quality evidence and could not draw definitive conclusions. Effects depended on the comparison.
2020 · Systematic review
Dry cupping was associated with lower chronic neck and low-back pain in the included trials. Evidence for these pain outcomes was low quality. Results are not proof of detoxification or benefit for unrelated illnesses.
2017 · Randomized controlled trial
Participants receiving cupping massage reported less neck pain after treatment than the waiting-list group. This short-term comparison concerns cupping massage for chronic neck pain, not every cupping method.
Temporary circular marks are common. Skin response depends on suction, placement and individual sensitivity.
Both services can be included in an individualized care plan after assessment.
Fixed cupping leaves cups in selected positions. Moving cupping uses a lubricant so the cup can glide over a suitable soft-tissue area. The method and suction are selected for your comfort.
